Super Bowl Shoveoff

Bear PrideSo it’s Super Bowl Sunday. And I couldn’t be happier.

Not because I’m excited about the game… I mean, I’m glad the Chicago Bears are in it this year, and I wish them all the luck in the world…

…but in truth, I am not a Bears fan.

And besides, even if I were a Bears fan, I am so sick and tired of hearing about the damn game I could scream.

This city has gone completely bonkers. Nuts. Out of their minds.

Skyscrapers have blue and orange colored lights shining on them in various places. All the bridges along the Chicago River have blue and orange lights in the windows of their operating towers. Other skyscrapers have “Go Bears” signs and Bears “C” logos in the lights of their offices for passing drivers to see.

The lions adorning the Art Institute are wearing Bears helmets. Kids and parents are bundled in Bear pride. You can’t escape it around here.

I guess I can’t blame people. I mean, Chicago is not known for its strength in the sports field. So when good fortune befalls the city, the city goes apeshit.

But man oh man oh MAN will I be happy when this game is over!

Go Bears. Please. Just go.

UPDATE: OK, so the Bears lost… truly I feel bad for ’em, but hey, they got this far. You can’t deny that they had a great year.

Oh, and I am hereby announcing that if Rex Grossman needs any comforting, I am here for him. Call me, Rex. I’ll make you feel better. 🙂
