Friday Flesh RETURNS!

It’s been too long… and I apologize. I know we all need something “extra” to get us through that last day of the week. I sure as hell do.

I’m always thinking about you… the reader/listener. That’s what I’m here for.

So today, I have a special treat for you all.

The world of professional tennis used to be really stodgy and boring. Starched white shirts and shorts, wooden rackets, wooden personalities, and an overall air of “proper” behavior was the rule.

Yawn.

Cut to the 21st century, and the world of professional tennis is not only hot…

…it’s sexy.

Take into consideration our Friday Flesh model, the young, the talented, and the beautiful… Andy Roddick.

Andy Roddick burst upon the scene in 2001, at the fresh young age of 19. Since that time, we have seen him grow from a cute, young and intriguing talent into the hot, sexy man he is today… and he’s still only 24. Imagine how nice he’ll be in his 30’s!

Andy Roddick is exciting on the court and off. He’s embraced his celebrity and has appeared in everything from Saturday Night Live to the TonightShow to People’s Sexiest Man Alive edition.

How can we blame the media for taking notice?

All I can say is… keep watching Andy. I know I will. Especially if he keeps taking pictures like these.

If he just keeps getting hotter… we might have a fire to put out somewhere.

I’ll call the fire department… or not. 🙂

Enjoy your weekend!

My Timeline

I was browsing through some files on my computer the other day and came upon a timeline that I created about a year ago. It starts in 1997 when I first moved to Chicago and left off at about this time last year.

There wasn’t much on the timeline. But I’m glad I created it. It helped me to figure out where I’ve lived and when (I’ve been in my current apartment since Summer of 2002– longest time of any apartment), when I adopted my cats (Pippin in May of 2000 and Screech in July of 2001).

The other thing it documents is how many boyfriends/relationships I’ve had in the last 9-10 years.

Two. Ouch.

And the last one was in the spring of 2004.

What the hell is wrong with me? Am I really so against the idea of having a boyfriend (consciously or subconsciously) that I literally run away from any opportunity I may have?

I tried to see if I could fill in a few more dates and times with other dating events… but I couldn’t. I just had nothing to add.

Good lord. That kinda freaked me out.

I need to get busy. Time to freshen up the dating website profiles and start exploring some options.

Here are some of the criteria I require in a man. Feel free to rip them apart suggest some others:

Breathing. (alive is preferred. See, I’m not that picky…)

Decent job. (Burger King does not apply.)

Nice smile. (My #1 physical requirement.)

Great sense of humor. (The way to my heart is through laughter.)

Must like cats. (Or dogs, but I have cats… if you don’t like cats, you won’t like me, and subsequently, I might not like you.)

Appreciate music. (Of all types. If you only listen to the latest dance/club beats, we won’t have much to discuss.)

Love sex. (Let’s face it, I’m a horny guy. I need a horny guy. And I’d prefer to be horny with a guy that wants me as much as I want him.)

Love kissing and holding hands. (In bed, in public, on the street, on the rooftop, at the mall.. I don’t care. If I like ya, I want to show you… and it doesn’t matter where.)

Love long walks along the beach. (You don’t seriously think I mean that, do you?)

Like my friends. (I would hope that any man I date or fall in love with would enjoy my friends as much as I do. I don’t want to be one of those guys that meets someone and abandons his friends for him. That’d be a mighty lonely existence.)

Be close to my age. (I would generally say that my preferences range from the late 20s to the early 40s. Anything too far out of that range is just that– too far.)

So there are some criteria… it’s time to take some next steps. Anything else I should add… or subtract? (The long walks is a joke, folks. I mean it’s nice and all, but it’s just so cliche.)

Ampersands are Evil

I never realized how badly the simple ampersand could screw things up. Until this week.

Yesterday’s post/podcast featured a song called “Linus and Lucy”. Initially, I used an ampersand (that squiggly little “and” symbol above the “7” on your keyboard) between the words “Linus” and “Lucy”. This is typical of nearly every time you see the name of that song anywhere. I’ve probably used a zillion ampersands on my blog in the nearly two years that I’ve been blogging. It’s a force of habit– but it’s also just typical typography. But for some reason, my blog didn’t like that little ampersand in yesterday’s post. Oh no… it hated it.
That little ampersand screwed things up so badly I was about ready to pull out my hair. For instance, if you tried to download my podcast at iTunes, you were probably greeted with a little exclamation mark saying that my feed URL was not valid. That’s because that stupid little ampersand caused my RSS feed to shut down, creating an error.

This is all fixed now.. and all feeds, iTunes files and etc. are working just fine.

So I hereby declare, oh dear friends, readers, and people who probably couldn’t give a shit one way or the other– that you shall never again see me use the ampersand in a post again. If you do, kick me in the @%*$ing ass. (See? No ampersands.)

Love always,

Your dearest RcktMan.

PadCast #9: Peanuts To You!

PadCast #9_ Peanuts To You!

A trip to Borders this weekend brought me down memory lane when I purchased a book called “Peanuts: The Art of Charles M. Schulz”. I’ve always identified with Charlie Brown, the main Peanuts character, and considered myself to be a lot like him– often teased, maligned and the butt of people’s jokes, yet always sincere and well-meaning with a good heart.

Yep. That’s me.

In today’s podcast I talk about my connection to Charlie Brown, the future of this show, and the wonderful week we all had this last week. (It sucked!)

HEY! Do you have a high-speed connection, a microphone, and one of the following programs: Yahoo Messenger, AOL Instant Messenger, Skype, or MSN Messenger? Then let me know, because you could be on a future podcast! Send me an invite to your messenger list (I am rcktmanil on each of the services) or drop me a line at rick (at) rcktman (dot) com. (you know how to REALLY type that into your Email program… I get enough spam as it is. 🙂 I’d love to hear from you and maybe have you on a future show!

What this place needs…

…is some pictures.

It’s been too long since I’ve posted any. So here are some pics from some recent ‘events’ that I’ve talked about:

WMMA State Conference

Amy and Rick

Me and my friend Amy at the WMMA (Wisconsin Marketing & Management Association) State Conference in Madison, WI (March). Can I just say how much I love this picture?

Good Friends

Good friends from Madison: (from upper left) Michael, Mark, Erica, Tim, and Amy. Love these guys!!

Bein' Green

St. Patty’s Day was a week away, but all six of these WMMA Alumni members decided to wear some shade of green — and they didn’t even pre-plan it. I just had to get a picture. 🙂

Madison, WI area

Wisconsin State Capitol Building

Wisconsin has probably the most beautiful capitol buidling in the USA. Of course I’ve only been to two out of the 50 states, but I still think it’s darn nice.

Lucious Leggings

Lucious Leggings: A colorful girl crosses an intersection at State Street in Madison, Wisconsin. I couldn’t resist.

Cupola of State Capitol

CGMC Oscar Party

Smile, ladies! Happy Oscar Night! She's a real girl!

Random fun from the CGMC Oscar party.. with drag queens galore. Guess which one is a real girl. You might get a prize. (Or you might not.)

St. Patrick’s Day

Aren't we lucky? The cute ones A Kiss of the Irish

The drinks were flowing freely at my friend Adam’s apartment on St. Patrick’s Day… and so was the green food coloring! 🙂
