100,000 and counting

By the time you read this post (if you even stop to read this post), the little counter along the side will have rolled over past 100,000.

One Hundred Thousand Hits.

When I started blogging, I never thought I’d reach 10,000 hits. But somehow I made it to this milestone.

I have so many people to thank. I really don’t even know where to begin. But I should probably start with…

Paul Walker

Ah yes, the sexy, hot, and handsome Paul Walker. Where would I be without you? 50,000 hits short of 100,000 hits, that’s for sure. Yes, folks, the world is crazy about this blonde, blue-eyed stud. I admit, I am too. Look at those pants. They’re juuuuust barely hanging on. Oh how I wish they’d fall. I know you wish they would, too. But seriously folks. You are viewing the most popular image of Paul Walker on the Internet. Seriously. Go to Google right now and search for Paul Walker. Then click on “Images” and tell me what you see. Yup. There he is. #1. At www.rcktman.com.

Crazy isn’t it? I get over 1,000 hits a DAY from people all over the WORLD looking for this picture. It’s insane.

Now you may be thinking to yourself, “But Rick, if that’s the case, then those hits aren’t really legitimate. I mean, if they’re looking for this picture, they’re not going to read your blog.”

Au contraire. Click on the image of Mr. Walker on Google Images. Tell me what you see.

Sonofagun… it’s my blog!

Looks like a legit hit to me. 🙂

I should also thank a few other important people… such as…

Eddie Cibrian

My other #1 Google Images result, Eddie Cibrian. While nowhere near as popular as Paul Walker (according to SiteMeter), this image has brought plenty of traffic on its own. Although I really have to wonder if that’s really him. It looks too… I dunno… hot? A boy can dream, though.

Matthew Fox

I’d be Lost without Matthew Fox, and apparently so would thousands of other people. This particularly Fox-y pic is the #2 result on Google Images.

Christian Bale

Christian Bale, Batman himself, claims the #3 spot on Google Images.

I also have to thank two simple words… “hot guys“. Because if you type those two words into Google Images, you get this studly man at the #2 spot:

Blaine Wilson

Sexy gymnast Blaine Wilson. Oh the backflips I’d do to land in those arms.

But seriously folks… let’s be real. The people searching for these images are not coming to read RcktMan’s Launching Pad. They want hot, sexy, shirtless men and they want them NOW. I’m not going to stop them from getting what they want… after all, if they’re here, it’s because I like ’em too.

But the real people I have to thank are the ones who take the time to read this blog. Some read it daily, and some whenever they can. It’s you who I have to thank… because whether I have 10 hits or 10 million hits… you are the ones that matter to me the most. Your comments, your warm thoughts and well-wishes get me through some of the toughest days. And your own blogs, whether they be hilariously funny or sentimental as this paragraph, lift my spirits, warm my heart, and make me think. Each blog and podcast that I list in the column on the left means something to me… and I want you to know that.

So thank you for being here, thank you for being out there, and thank you for being a part of my blog family. As this holiday season approaches, let’s appreciate what we have. A picture is just a picture. A friend means the world.

Thanks. 🙂

Things I learned while (barely) surviving Hell Week

The weekend was a bitch folks, I’m not going to lie. And it was only the first of two weeks!

It was a week of rehearsals, work and constantly being on the go. I had dress/tech rehearsals on Monday and Wednesday from 6:30 to 10. Friday I took a vacation day and bought my Christmas Tree and decorated my living room in preparation for my annual Christmas/Birthday party. And then Saturday arrived– 2:00 call and two shows in a row.

And just when one would think it was all over… on Sunday I had a long (2:00 – 8:30) rehearsal with Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus for “A Cowboy Christmas”.

By the end of that rehearsal I was seriously ready to drop. And drop I did… right into bed (after watching Desperate Housewives.) 🙂

My head hurts a bit right now. Among the things I learned over the weekend are that you really cannot do all this stuff without eating properly. I was so on the go and had so many things going on that I never took the time to eat the meals that I should have. By Sunday all of that had taken its toll, I think… and I’m still paying the price today. I also learned the importance of staying properly hydrated. One of the girls in Unison (the Windy City mixed chorus) who had a beautiful solo passed out shortly afterward on stage– and we think it’s because she didn’t drink enough water or consumed too much caffiene beforehand. It put a damper on the show, but she’s OK at least.

So after a good night’s rest last night and a couple of days off, I should be able to bounce back. I don’t feel sick, thankfully… I was just exhausted.

Moral of the story folks… don’t do this at home. Take care of yourselves. Eat properly. Drink plenty of fluids. And most importantly– rest.
